lots of snow

Finally, after a week of cold weather, icy roads, and snow, things have warmed up enough to melt. We went outside last week after the first snow fell and attempted to build a snowman, but the snow just wouldn't cooporate. It was just too cold. It didn't look like we would get another chance, but just a few days ago it dumped several inches of the perfect snow. We all bundled up and went outside and had a snowball fight, built our long anticipated snowman, and built two forts. The second picture is of Alden sitting on top of Patrick's creation.

Check out that great snowman!! He has wonderful accessories thanks to a christmas present that Mimi and Papa gave Alden. It was a snowman kit... a beautiful box with all of the fixings for the perfect snowman, minus the sticks and the snow.

alden dresses himself

There was a scuffling sound coming from Alden's room the other day, followed by dresser drawers slamming. A proud little boy emerged and paraded the outfit he had put together around the living room for us to see. He had chosen mittens and a pirates hat to wear.

new wagon

Daddy took Alden on a wagon ride last week since we were having a sunny (but cold) day. Until then the wagon had been inside, and Alden was getting very frustrated that it kept running into walls when he'd pull it. He had a great time, and we had to peel him out of it when it was time to come in. I'm sure it will be getting a lot of use this spring and summer, and it will be really useful when we go to the zoo!

a new cousin!!

Alden's Aunt Tanya and Uncle James welcomed a new little girl, Eila Jane, to their family on New Year's Day. She was the first baby born in their town in 2007, so she's already been in the paper and on the local news. Eila's big sisters Emma and Lydia are very excited about her arrival, and we are looking forward to meeting her.
