a new blog

I've created a new family blog to replace this one. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it a bit more up to date! Click here to take a look. Don't forget to bookmark the new site so that you can visit often.

Alden and Gage

While we were in the hospital with Tula, Alden spent the night at his friends Gage and Jaden's house. He had a great time playing with the boys, and apparently he took a nap with two "Mater" trucks, which may have been the highlight of the stay.

welcome little sister!

Alden is a big brother!! Tula Josephine was born August 3rd—three weeks early. She weighed 5 pounds 10 ounces and is a petite 17-1/2" long. Although Alden is excited to have a little sister, he still doesn't want to get too close. So far we've only been able to coax him into holding her once. But he does ask a lot of questions and is always curious to know what she's doing—usually the answer is either eating, sleeping or pooping.

summer vacation in montana

We just returned home from a long vacation to Montana. It'd been a year since Alden
had seen his Grandma and Grandpa, but it didn't take him long to warm up to them again. Grandma gave him Fruit Loops (or as Alden calls them, "fruit lips") in the mornings, which he's never had before, but I'm sure he'll be asking for every time we visit. Grandpa was also a big hit, and Alden was amazed by his motorized wheelchair.

Tanya, James, cousins Emma, Lydia and Eila were also there for a visit so Alden spent a lot of time chasing the girls and trying to do everything that they could do.

We had a chance to see a new foal and its mother. Alden was a little intimidated at first (Patrick, too), but he finally decided it would be okay to pet it. Both the mother and the baby were very gentle, and were more than happy to let us pet them and scratch behind their ears.

back to the blog

Well, it's been a while since we've made any updates, so here are some highlights and cute pictures from a very busy spring/summer.

Father's Day
Even though the weather didn't cooperate, we spent the afternoon at Emerald Downs to watch some horse racing. They had a ton of events for kids—Alden's favorite was the pony rides. We place a few bets, and Alden cheered his heart out for #6, "Go number six, go number six!" but sadly, we never won.

Painting Outside
Alden received some fun new paintbrushes with different textures/bristles quite a while ago, but we just recently opened them up and gave them a try. He had a blast and painted several "flower" pictures.

A New Hat
Mimi & Papa know how much Alden loves trains so they gave him this adorable conductor's hat. It took some coaxing, but he finally decided that he'd wear it. Now all he needs is a whistle!
